Are restrooms available on tour?
Restrooms are always available at the tour starting location, and
again at select locations during the course of tours. We recommend
using restrooms prior to touring for your own comfort while on tour
and to prevent holding up the tour group or missing any part of the tour.
Will the tour be cancelled if it rains?
Tours are held rain or shine. If the weather is very inclement, e.g.
heavy snow or hurricane, the tour may be cancelled. Rescheduling or
refunds will be offered in the extremely rare event that the company
cancels the tour.
Can photos be taken on tour?
Photos can be taken everywhere with the exception of the colonial kitchen
in the Hammond-Harwood House, the Sands House, and in the Jonas Green House.
This restriction is requested by the historic homes involved.
Are tours wheelchair and stroller friendly?
Yes, this is true for most tours. The exceptions would be The Sands House,
The Grand Houses, and the Green Family Print Shop Tours. These tours cannot
accommodate wheelchairs, and strollers must be left outside. On our other
tours, the State House can be entered from the lower level where there is
use of an elevator to go to main floor. The colonial kitchen involves 3
stairs which present no problem for strollers. Wheelchair participants
usually find they can see and hear amply from the doorway of the colonial kitchen.
Why don't your public tours include the U.S. Naval Academy?
Touring the United States Naval Academy (USNA) takes nearly an hour and
detours from our primary objective of presenting the major venues of historic
Annapolis. Most of our tour guides are certified to conduct USNA tours, and
if requested on a private tour we can make arrangements for this. Guides at
USNA visitor's center do an extraordinary job giving public tours of the
academy and feel that we do historic Annapolis best and they do the Naval
Academy best. For details about about these tours, please visit
www.usna.edu/visit.
Why are picture I.D.'s Required?
Pictures I.D.'s are required to go into the Maryland State House and the United
States Naval Academy. Be prepared to go through a security checkpoint similar to that of an airport. Several of our tours go into these locations.
